Biblical Truths About Israel and the Church
Every now and then, the need to clarify certain biblical truths arises, so here we go.
ISRAEL in the Bible refers to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob 99.99% of the time, not whoever we want it to mean.
THE BODY of Messiah (or the church) is made up of true believers in Jesus, including Jews and non-Jews (or everyone else).
THE CHURCH is not the new Israel and Israel is not the church.
WHILE GOD carriers out His redemptive plan through His redeemed people (Jewish and non-Jewish believers in Jesus), His love and calling toward Israel is unchanging (“irrevocable”, Romans 11:28-29). They are still His Chosen People!
IN SPITE OF national Israel’s unbelief, God still has a plan for them to acknowledge Jesus as their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10; 13:1; Rom.11:25-26).
THE PROMISES of God are trustworthy.
“See, I will gather them out of all the countries, where I have driven them in My anger, My fury, and great wrath, and I will bring them back to this place and cause them to dwell securely. They will be My people, and I will be their God.
I will give them one heart and one way, so they may fear Me forever; for their good and for their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never turn away from doing good for them. I will put My fear in their hearts, so that they will not depart from Me. “Yes, I will delight in doing good for them, and with all My heart and all My soul I will in truth plant them in this land.””
Jeremiah 32:37-41 TLV
