Welcome! I’m glad you’ve stopped by and hope you find our website to be informative and relevant.
Chosen People Ministries (Canada) exists to pray for, evangelize, disciple, and serve Jewish people everywhere, and to partner with other believers in Jesus the Messiah.
Our Mission was founded in 1894 by Rabbi Leopold Cohn in Brooklyn, New York. After he came to faith in Jesus as his Jewish Messiah, his heart desire was to share that faith with his Jewish family and community. And that is how our Mission began. Now more than 125 years old, our work has expanded into 19 countries – and counting!
In Canada, the Mission began in 1940 in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. Rev. Donald J. Mackay, pastor at Philpott Memorial Church, saw the need to reach the local Jewish community with the Gospel of Jesus. After he contacted our Mission in New York, they responded by sending a missionary from Buffalo on a monthly basis. From there the work grew to other parts of Canada.
In 1993, the Mission relocated its headquarters to Toronto which has the largest Jewish population in Canada. Presently, the Canadian Mission is ministering to the needs of Jewish people in Toronto, Hamilton, Winnipeg and Vancouver through the work of missionaries, administrative staff and many volunteers and partners. In 2019, we completed and dedicated our Toronto Messianic Centre – a facility dedicated to evangelism, training, special events and other programs.
We plant Messianic congregations where Jewish seekers and believers can worship God in a culturally Jewish way. Our workers also lead home Bible study groups, minister to children and youth, as well as serve the needs of the elderly including Holocaust survivors. We regularly hold conferences and training events and lead tours to Israel. A significant part of our ministry is through printed materials, audio and video resources and social media. Make sure you visit our online shop; we’ll be updating available resources often.
Our missionaries speak in churches across Canada on topics such as Jewish evangelism, the Feasts of the Lord, the Jewish roots of our faith and Israel. If you would like someone from our staff to speak at your church or congregation, please contact us to explore the possibilities or book a meeting.
We appreciate your prayers and support as we continue sharing the Good News of Messiah Jesus with our Jewish friends. Come visit us at our Toronto Messianic Centre (near Yorkdale Mall). We’d love to meet you in person!
Faithfully in Jesus the Messiah,
Jorge Sedaca
