“Voice of The People” Summit in Haifa Addresses Global Jewish Unity Post October 7

Fifty delegates each from Israel, North America, and the rest of the Diaspora, respectively, convened for the five-day Voice of the People (VOP) plenary in Haifa spearheaded by Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Convention attendees represented all parts of the ethnic, generational, political, religious, and socioeconomic spectra of the global Jewish community. However, they were by no means strangers to one another at the conference; they have been engaged in online dialogue about worldwide antisemitism and the aftermath of the Swords of Iron War for several months now. All conferees were expected to do “deep dives” on the aforementioned issues as well as the political, religious, and socioeconomic polarization of Jewry both in Israel and the Diaspora. President Herzog hoped that through brainstorming, the representatives would come up with viable and practicable solutions to the foregoing issues.

Shirel Dagan-Levy, CEO of the VOP, wanted the delegates to focus on the phenomenon now known as “October 8 Jews”. These are survivors of the war following the brutal attack on southern Israel by Hamas on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles in 2023. Many of these were secular Jews who, until that fateful day, gave little thought to their Biblical or historical heritage or even their Jewish identity. Nevertheless, the trauma suffered following the death of 1,200 persons and the kidnapping of 250 more caused many to examine and evaluate their lives in a world that is increasing hostile toward the Jewish people.

Pray that as the delegates at the VOP event and Israeli Jewry assess the matters most strongly impacting the worldwide Jewish community, they come to a saving knowledge of the Jewish Messiah, the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.

PM Netanyahu Will Finance The Restoration of Druze and Circassian  Infrastructure in Israel

Israel Druze

Though they are non-Jewish (primarily Muslim) ethnic minorities in Israel, the Druze and Circassian people have contributed substantially to the establishment, development, and maintenance of the State of Israel even since before her inception in 1948. Though they are not legally required to serve in the IDF, many members of both communities have volunteered to defend and protect the Land against her enemies.

Most of the 150,000 Druze and 5,000 Circassians of Israel reside in the Galilee region. Like so many of their fellow countrymen in northern Israel, they were assailed by the rockets, drones, and artillery that Hezbollah operatives fired upon them from southern Lebanon. In response to this situation, Drorit Steinmetz, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), brainstormed with the Authority for Economic and Social Development of Druze and Circassian Localities to determine the financial priorities for restructuring both communities and develop a realistic and practical budget accordingly.

The PMO will allocate 180 million USD toward urban and housing planning, about 300 million toward bolstering local economies and government services at all levels, 125 million USD toward developing career- and job market-driven education programmes, and another 300 million USD toward fostering small businesses and entrepreneurship, regional tourism, private and public transport, social welfare, sport and recreation, and more.

This five-year plan will disburse nearly 850 million USD to Druze and Circassian villages in Galilee and northern Israel between 2025 and 2029. It has already received accolades and approval from the leaders of both communities.

Pray for the successful implementation of the Druze and Circassian community redevelopment plan of the Netanyahu Administration, and a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ among the members of both communities.

Israeli Researchers Discover Protein in Human Milk Promoting Drug Uptake

Israeli Researchers

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Israeli scientist and IDF veteran Dr. Assaf Zinger noticed that his then newborn daughter Tamara presented with the symptoms of a reaction to the COVID vaccine. The problem was, the baby never received it! His wife Noa, however, was administered the vaccine…and was also now breastfeeding Tamara. He figured their baby was absorbing the COVID antibodies from Noa’s milk.

COVID antibodies are attached to tiny nanoparticles which must be injected into muscle or blood. They cannot be taken by mouth as the enzymes in the stomach will digest and destroy them. So how could Tamara absorb the vaccine intact from Noa’s milk? Doctor Zinger suspected there was some element in human milk that protects the nanoparticles as well as their vaccine cargo.

He organized a research team at the Haifa campus of Technion, his workplace, to detect and analyze candidate molecules in breast milk that could form a protective shell against fragile nanoparticles. His committee of sixteen worked feverishly on this project—while being deployed by the IDF whenever and wherever they were needed during the October 7 War.

Late last year, the team finally identified and characterized the factor they believed was responsible for encapsulating the drug-bearing nanoparticles, protecting them against digestive enzymes, and facilitating their passage from the intestine to the liver and ultimately the bloodstream. It turned out to be a crown-shaped protein designated Human Breast Milk Protein Corona.

Doctor Zinger and his team isolated and validated the effectiveness of the protein at enabling intestinal cell cultures and intact pig intestines to absorb various nanoparticles. Future research will involve testing the protein in combination with various types of nanoparticles and drug cargoes.

Pray for the successful development of this new pharmaceutical formulation for the treatment of various diseases. Pray that God would guide the hands and minds of the research team and that they would come to recognise the Great Physician, the Lord Who Heals Us, Jesus Christ, as their Redeemer and Saviour.

Israel’s National Airline and Disability Network, Collaborate to Simulate an Airport Terminal For Disabled Children on Purim

Purim at ELAL
ALEH and EL AL teamed up to transform a campus into a lively terminal. (photo credit: ALEH)

The Feast of Purim recounts the story told in the Book of Esther and celebrates the victory of the Jewish people of ancient Persia over the genocide plot of the evil Haman. It is an especially joyous time for children. However, some young people cannot enter into the mirth of this holiday as much as they would like because they are hampered by severe disabilities.

ALEH is the national care centre for disabled citizens of Israel and provides medical, psychological, financial, social, and other assistance for them. It was founded in 1982 by Rabbi Yehuda Marmorstein and concerned parents of boys and girls with severe handicaps.

This year, associates from ALEH and flight crews from Israel’s national airline El Al teamed up to create a most memorable Purim celebration for disabled children. They transformed part of the Bnei Brak campus of ALEH into an airport terminal complete with pilots, flight attendants, a duty-free kiosk, travellers in transit with luggage, baggage carts, announcements over a public address system, and so on.

As it is customary for children of all ages to wear costumes and do masquerades on Purim, some of the kids wore flight crew attire themselves. The organizers of this event agreed that because many handicapped children have limited or no access to air travel, they would greatly appreciate the opportunity at least to pretend to prepare to fly to an exotic destination.

Such an activity also helps enhance their social, motor, and cognitive skills as well as their overall physical and emotional development.

Please pray for the complete physical restoration of the children of ALEH. Pray also for their salvation as well as that of their families and caregivers.

Israeli Soldiers Find Healing Through Special Retreat

Nera Retreat Israeli Flag Large

“I felt like God was present through the entire time and prepared this program for us. I could see Him in the smallest details. For me, ‘Nera’ was a huge turning point where God met me personally.” “I truly believe there aren’t enough words to describe the magnitude of the experience that ‘Nera’ was for me. I came with a heart ready for change and for God’s work, and I saw Him move far beyond what I had even expected. He worked in so many ways, ensuring that an inner healing process would begin within me.” These quotes are from two of our participants in the Nera Healing Retreat for female soldiers who served in the military during the horrible events of October 7, 2023, and in the ongoing war. Nera means “her candle” in Hebrew. It was the pilot for an intensive program for recovery and trauma care for female soldiers. Our staff in Israel has seen how God restored life to these women and gave them joy again. Please pray for the ladies who participated in this pilot program and for our planning team as we follow up with these ladies and plan the second retreat.

Please pray that God will use programs like the Nera retreat to immerse Israelis at this time in deep healing, bringing life and hope to a suffering nation.
