Hanukkah: The Feast of Dedication

The Hebrew word Hanukkah (chanukah) חנוכה means “dedication” and marks an eight day winter celebration from Kislev 25 to Tevet 3.
The usual story told is one of a miracle of a small amount of oil that supernaturally kept the temple menorah lit eight days. After the Maccabees overthrew the Greeks reclaimed and rededicated the temple in 165 BC.
